I am a Gamilaraay woman who wants to share my stories through art and with this exhibition I will share with you the way I see my culture. Yilambu in Gamilaraay language translates to ‘Long Ago’ Aboriginal people are the longest living culture in the world. My connections and feelings are intertwined with my stories and can be seen within the lines, stokes and dots layered on linen.
In this exhibition I will present to you a range of acrylic paintings that explore themes of my Country, Identity and Relationships. Each painting tells a story and is built with layers of paint. Through these stories I want to share my culture with you.
