What an absolute privilege it is to work, dance and play on the gorgeous lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung.  We pay respect to our local Elders and leaders past and present, send strength and solidarity to all our First Nations community and give thanks for the caretaking of this land that we are so blessed to live on.

The Festival is a culmination of many hours of hard work and much fun. There is an amazing team of dedicated workers behind the scenes, from grant writing to fundraising, writing policy to stage management. Thanks to everyone who makes this magic possible, and to all the amazing artists presenting their work in this bumper collection of theatre, music, visual arts and more. This program is EPIC!!

This year’s theme Castlemaine Fringe Is…  was entirely open to interpretation for what Fringe means to you, our wonderful community.  Thanks to everyone who entered our poster competition and congratulations to winner Randi Wagner!  Randi’s fabulous design symbolises the many facets of Castlemaine Fringe that come together and form a dynamic whole: each ring tells a story, representing the individuality that makes our Festival so very special.

For me, Fringe is fun, colour, connection and celebration and is about us as a community.  I hope you’ll find it representative, thoughtful, fun, engaging and welcoming and are as excited to get out and about into town as I am!

Much Love

Volunteer with
Castlemaine Fringe

Throughout the planning and conduct of the festival and in all our fundraising efforts, Castlemaine Fringe relies on volunteers.

Walking The Fish

Commissioned to celebrate its 30th anniversary, 'Walking The Fish' is a short documentary tracing the origins of Castlemaine Fringe. Retold by those who were actually involved, the film showcases some of the successes and scandal of the first festival in 1992. Watch on Vimeo.
