Love Me Tender
April 4 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pmFree
‘Love Me Tender’ is a digital installation work by artists Hermione Merry and Helen Mathwin developed in conversation with ‘There is no Shame in Delight’, also screening during the festival as part of the 2021 State festival.
These works explores connect and dis-connect, an inability to submerge into a landscape, a surface entrapment. ‘Love Me Tender’ draws on the pathos of these themes, as developed in ‘No Shame’ and creates an explosive moment of cultural connection as indigenous rodeo rider Thomas masterfully rides out the bucking colonial horse.
Both of these works explore the notion of scale within a cultural context and the idea of digging, as a metaphor for connection to land, a desperate urge to submerge, belong, infiltrate.
